TESTIMONIALS

John Foster, Deputy Head Teacher, Norwich International School Bangkok

We worked with Anna and EAL Inclusive to launch our professional development for the year at Norwich International School, Bangkok. Anna delivered a fantastic and practical session on 'inclusive teaching and learning strategies' for all of our primary and secondary teachers.

We had identified improving adaptive teaching particularly in relation to literacy as being a key focus for us at the school - Anna was able to tailor a hands-on session to this and facilitate each and every teacher in the room applying strategies to their own teaching. We have revisited Anna's materials over and over again as part of a reflective learning cycle, which I think is testament to just how impactful they were.

What really stood out for me though, leading on teaching within the school, is the level of service that we got from Anna. Although (at this time) we only booked her for a stand alone PD session, I felt that I had a consultant working for us. She took the time to truly understand our needs, create meaningful and personalised learning for us and even took the time to offer some pointers in developing further.

Anna and her team at EAL Inclusive are absolute experts in their field and have had a long lasting impact on our school. I am heartily recommending working with them to anyone in my network and do not hesitate in doing so. We can't wait to work with EAL Inclusive again.

Ebon Trenchfield, EAL Coordinator, HELP International School

My team and I are hugely grateful to EAL Inclusive for the support and guidance they have provided in helping us to both develop and refine our EAL provision.

The package that we took was fantastic value for money and has provided us with a template from which to maximise the learning of EAL students within our school.

Anna has been attentive to our needs, tweaking and adjusting her resources to best fit the requirements of our school and she is always quick to respond to any queries that we might have.  I have seen a visible growth in confidence from my team and this is largely thanks to the work of EAL Inclusive.

Basman Zora, Head of Secondary, The British International School of Kuala Lumpur

Anna’s strength lies in her understanding of how children acquire language. Her expertise in developing EAL learners’ linguistic skills was a key driving force at BSKL.

Her planning is meticulous and thorough: lessons are progressive and well structured, designed to meet the needs of all students.

Anna’s work on intervention strategies is exceptional and she is able to have a direct impact on students’ progress and achievement.

Anna has utilised her knowledge and expertise to make a significant impact on the school’s EAL policy and provision.

Gary Cairns, Deputy Principal, St Joseph's International School, Malaysia

I appreciate the time Anna spent discussing ways to support EAL students from the point of admissions onwards. It is clear that Anna is very passionate about supporting students whose first language is not English and, no doubt, I think a lot of schools will benefit from her experience.

Ania Smithers, Head of Inclusion, The British School, Kathmandu

Anna has been an invaluable support and largely instrumental in our development of a comprehensive system of identification, monitoring and supporting EAL students at our school. The level of expertise and passion Anna has for ensuring the progress of students who learn English as an Additional Language and supporting them at a whole school level is truly inspirational.

We were delighted to access the resources and monitoring documents she had developed, secure in the knowledge that they have been successfully utilised before and will make a considerable difference to the quality of provision we can offer.

During our sessions with Anna she carefully listened to what our needs were and got herself familiarised in our context and individual circumstances. In that way, her approach was highly personalised and tailored to our needs.

Anna has been an always reliable and solid influence, which we have very much appreciated and we are looking forward to continuing to work together next year.

Karen Windley, EAL Leader, St Joseph's International School, Malaysia

I have thoroughly enjoyed your training and your friendly and passionate way of sharing your EAL expertise, your programme fits perfectly into our SJI ethos and has indeed had a positive impact on the direction that I would like to take the EAL dept going forward, especially in regards to having more support from SLT and creating a cohesive whole-school approach.

I will be meeting with SLT to share some ideas soon.

I liked the fact that you gave us time to reflect and share our thoughts about how we were able to insert strategies and systems in our own context as subject leaders, teachers and SLT. I have worked in both E.S and H.S so I am aware of the challenges in each area. I think for me one of the biggest takeouts from your expertise was understanding how essential it is to have a whole school approach and having SLT's support. I often find training programmes focus on one particular area of the school or curriculum and we're not always able to envisage implementing changes. I believe that our goals, common language and systems need to be really transparent within a school and that all staff (SLT, HOD's teachers, and the admissions team) need to be aware of what is going on to move forward together positively.

Gilberta Kuriqi, EAL Teacher, Kings Albania

This training was very insightful and I've learned a lot. It was well-structured, offering different tips, techniques and resources for teachers to apply in their EAL classes. A great course made by very competent professionals.

Paula Kennedy-Wingate, Assistant Head, Dulwich College Singapore

Anna led a fantastic session about differentiation for Senior School staff that was both informative and thought-provoking. It was reassuring for colleagues to know that a lot of what they already do constitutes good practice but they were also reminded of and introduced to a wider range of strategies to support all our students. Since the PLD, staff have been trying out and implementing Anna's various strategies to further support all learners, but particularly useful for our EAL and AEN students.
